چکیده

Statement of Problem: Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) denture resins commonly fracture as a result the being dropped or when in use due to heavy occlusal forces. Purpose: To investigate effects E-glass fibre, ZrO2 and TiO2 nanoparticles at different concentrations on toughness impact strength PMMA base. Materials Methods: evaluate (dimensions: 40 × 8 4 mm3; n = 10/group) 80 10 12/group), 286 rectangular tested specimens were prepared divided into four groups. Group C consisted without any filler (control group), while remaining three groups varied according concentration materials by weight resin: 1.5%, 3%, 5%, 7%. Three-point bending Charpy tests conducted measure respectively. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) was utilised examine fractured surfaces after test. One-way analysis variance (ANOVA) followed Tukey post-hoc employed analyse results p ≤ 0.05 significance level. Results: Fracture with 1.5 3 wt.% ZrO2, TiO2, all fibre significantly higher (p < 0.05) than control group. The samples reinforced exhibited highest toughness. Those wt.%, 5 7 fibres had heat-cured modified either did not exhibit statistically significant difference > comparison Conclusions: ZrO2; ratios TiO2; can effectively enhance PMMA. inclusion does improve strength, not.

Shear Bond Strength of Acrylic Denture Teeth to PMMA and Polyamide Denture Base Materials

Introduction: Detachment of denture teeth from denture base is one of the most common reasons for costly denture repairs .This study aimed at evaluating the bond strength of an acrylic denture tooth to polyamide injection-molded thermoplastic denture base material compared with three conventional polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) denture base resins. Materials and Method: A total of 40 acrylic dent...

Fracture toughness, compressive strength and load-bearing capacity of short glass fibre-reinforced composite resin.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the reinforcing effect of short E-glass fibre fillers on fracture related mechanical properties of dental composite resin with a semi-interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) polymer matrix. METHODS Experimental short fibre composite (FC) resin was prepared by mixing 22.5 wt% of short E-glass fibres, 22.5 wt% of IPN-resin and 55 wt% of silane treated silica fillers usin...

Strength and Toughness of Reinforced Concrete with Coated Steel Fibers

The effect of zinc phosphate (ZP) and zinc calcium phosphate (ZCP) coatings on the reinforcing mechanisms of smooth steel fiber in cementitious matrix have been studied. The results of pull out tests illustrated that by coating smooth steel fiber the pull-out load may be increased up to 100%. The effect of zinc phosphate coating on interface bonding was more than zinc-calcium phosphate coating....
